Design trends for interiors influence the way we style and decorate our homes. From textures to colors and accessories to building materials, experts will explain the most important and vibrant trends for 2023.

The trends in interior design for 2023 are diverse and vast. There are a few new colors, materials and textures however, the most important thing is that the moods are changing. The majority of moods are centered around a spa-like sensation of tranquility or a playful and vibrant increase in happiness.

“How people want to decorate has recently shifted,” design expert Lee Broom. “For a start, we’re all craving a better outlook, and part of achieving that is to condition your own brain to think more positively, which you can do by surrounding yourself with things that make you feel happy. Cocktail cabinets that move and rotate, furniture that’s geared towards sitting together and being convivial, anything that is a bit playful and glamorous and dramatic.”

Interior stylist Tara Bernerd agrees that there is a shift towards elegance, but it’s more casual in its approach to elegance than it has ever been. “While that feeling of luxury remains very important, don’t we now all want something that feels approachable, too?” Tara says. “That you can walk around barefoot in and not feel worried about? I find that people still want their spaces to feel grand, but while we might turn the volume up in the living room with some real wow design, we’ll then do a chic media room where the materials and textures are less formal, more edgy, more comfortable. This totally reflects what’s happening generally, as people are finding they can be just as smart without a tie, and women have largely swapped their heels for trainers.”

This desire has spread and has been expressed in a variety of ways. Here are the trends in interior design we believe will be most prominent for 2023 as well as beyond.

Design trends for interiors 2023

1.GOLDEN TONES

Shining like sunsets, this beautiful warm and flaxen color elevates interiors by adding the lux of. Bethan Grey has used it on furniture, Arflex has it on chairs and it creates a sparkling splash on this wallpaper by Kirkby who has teamed up with designer Eley Kishimoto for this collection.

The design team claims that the print was inspired by “the effect of multiple folded paper aeroplanes in flight” The design was created through the arrangement of geometric shapes that are basic and creating a complex design. It’s quite captivating isn’t it?

2. CONVIVIAL SEATING

Furniture designers have noticed the possibility of bringing people together and this new age in furniture design has an array of seating choices that focus on encouraging conversations in person.

The Vis-a-Vis designed by Philippe Nigrofor Ligne Roset is a prime illustration. With its matte black lacquered frame and striking blue upholstery, it’s sleek, modern and gives two people the possibility to separate themselves, yet feeling yet next to one another.

It’s not a couch. It’s not a sofa, nor are they two chairs. While it is sure to make heads turn as a work of design, it’s made to ensure that people using it don’t have to look at their heads! Let the conversation go on.

3. 1960S-STYLE ARMCHAIRS

The armchairs appear to have taken some of a backseat (excuse for the pun) in recent years. It seems like the majority of people are opting for luxurious sofas and jewel-coloured loveseats, and ignoring the elegance of a single low-level armchair.

There’s a sense that this could be about to change, as designers – and the Italian designers that we’re talking about particularly they’re bringing some appealing Accent chairs styles to the forefront. They all share an element of commonality; inspired by 1960s lines, fabrics and colors, here’s the top of the line to slip into and then slip back to.

The Porada Copine Bergere Chair sports a gorgeous, high backrest (ergonomically it’s an absolute dream) It is also possible to have it with either an elongated fabric cover or a leather cover that is fixed. The original version was made with a walnut frame (and legs) and legs, the Copine Bergere is now also available with the option in Black Nickel or – and be prepared for an eye-roller the Brushed Bronze Brass finishes for the frame and legs.

4. PURE WHITE LAMPS

This latest lighting style is all about cutting off colour completely and focusing on form instead.

This 642 Visier Lamp is made of aluminium and finished in a cool white shade is an ideal illustration of this modern interior design trend. It’s not only an item of furniture, but rather it’s also a sculpture. It looks a bit like it’s descending to the ground (clear an area on the sideboard! ) We believe that this investment piece is futuristic and is built to stand the test of time.

5. HERITAGE TILES

Vintage or reclaimed patterns, the vintage-inspired look is more sought-after than ever.

Missing the Mediterranean? That’s why this highly artistic method of bathroom tile fashions that you can bring some of the Mediterranean to your home. The tiles are reminiscent of the antique ones from Southern Spain look for the patina and hues are reminiscent of the old tiles that were reclaimed. You can use them in a pair or tiles of a single color for an elegant and subtle look.

6. WALL LIGHTS TAKING CENTRE STAGE

Designer and superstar Tom Dixon recently told Livingetc about the importance and importance of ‘light washing’. He suggested employing bulbs in a clever way to fill your walls with light rather than shining light down high.

It’s not an accident that lighting fixtures become ever more beautiful, scene stealers stunning and spectacular. First, Laura Gonzalez was a true shining star (or is it eye-level lighting?) during Paris Deco Off with her Bosphore ceramic wall lamps above. Available in a smoky mix of colors, each cylindrical is a contemporary interpretation of the bobbin trend and incorporates them as jewels into these stunning shades.

Then , brands such as Contardi introduced sculptural wall lamps that appear like art. Wall lights are becoming stars of their own; they just hang a bit lower than you would think. Check out our selection of amazing lighter fixtures for your walls.

7. CONTEMPORARY CURTAIN TRIMS

Livingetc is adopting curtain trims. The traditional curtain trims were once considered too old-fashioned. Samuel and Sons’s modern approach to tassels and adornments has made this a reality.

The brand creates a whirlpool of iridescent colours that transform rooms. We are drawn to the Elora border. Its swirls twist up the curtain and add a flash modern decoration that lifts even the most dull corners. Trims! As a curtain style! It’s amazing!

8. HIDEAWAY HOME OFFICES

As smart WFH stations as possible can be used to hide your workday. They will look similar to a drinks cabinet, a writing desk, or an armour to the unassuming eye. They hide all of your work stress and strains, papers and bits.

They are being created by high-end design brands such as Porada. The Davenport for Another Country by David Irwin is simple and elegant. It’s a complete home office made of slices of solid oak and three hidden brass handles. The traditional angled front is gone, providing enough room for a computer screen. Inside, hidden compartments, pin boards, and cable storage are all available. It doubles up as a bar, perfect for after-work drinks.

9. BOLD BORDERS

It is clear that there is a decorative vibe in this air. Trims are huge in curtains (see above), but borders are also back.

They’re not limited to being horizontally arranged on a wall. This time they can be bent around woodwork or broken up into smaller spaces. Studio Atkinson’s original wallpaper border collection includes five classic patterns that can be used in bright colours and at unexpected scales.

10. ALFRESCO SHOWERING ALL YEAR ROUND

Designers have been exploring new ways to incorporate this feeling into their decor since Gwyneth Paltrow’s home spa was revealed to the public earlier this year. Materials, textures, steam rooms…and now the outdoor shower for an invigorating blast of the first thing.

Bathroom trends are here to help you enjoy the warm season. C. P Hart’s Luminous Tiles can be used indoors and outdoors, and are weather-resistant and durable enough to withstand even the harshest summers. The tiles’ au-natural colours blend well with backyard materials, and the high-gloss finish enhances every sunbeam.

11. LUXE OUTDOOR LIGHTING

Luxe lighting is a popular trend outside as we all want to spend more time in our backyard.

The Ethimo Italian outdoor design experts have just released the Lucerna Lamp. It is a design of Luca Nichetto. This lamp is not your ordinary outdoor garden lamp. It’s stylish, contemporary, and fully in line with the ‘new luxury” vibe. These products embody a bit of the past and the present in their makeup.

The Lucerna is named after ancient Roman oil lamps. However, it also uses the most recent LED lighting technology. It has a dual system that includes a pull-out cable and a chargeable battery. All of this is protected in a waterproofed anodised metal casing. You can choose from a steel or brass finish. This is the best outdoor lighting you can find.

12. WICKERWORK

The art of weaving natural rattan, with reeds and certain bark materials, wickerwork, is back on the design radar.

It’s not too late. Wickerwork products are a great choice for interior designers who want to find design pieces that tell a story and have a sustainable approach to interior design. It’s making a mark from the high end to the high street.

Particularly useful for outdoor furniture, wickerwork is a great choice. This wickerwork porch decor has all the charm we are looking for, but in a much more elegant way. Gabriella Crespi, a well-known Italian designer, first created the Bohemian 72 Collection in 1972. Her original designs are now synonymous with celebrity, and if you can find one, they command high prices (Google at your own risk).

Gubi has teamed up with Archivo Crespi in order to bring the collection back into production. There are a few pieces to choose from: the Lounge Chair, Ottoman, 3 Seater Sofa, Ottoman and Lamp. Each piece is made from a trunk of rattan, which represents everything cool about 1970s wickerwork design.

13. IRREGULAR RUGS

The most unusual rugs are unique designs that have been made to be the centre of attention. These living-room rugs are not only eye-catching, but they also have a unique design that is quite literal, with an unusual shape.

These top sports offer a lot of unconventional thinking.

A Rum Fellow’s Mala rug is a particular favourite of ours.

14. PLUMPED-UP SEATING

Designers are showing how a more casual style can be combined with comfort and practicality. But, it also offers high-level style and refinement. This look is being pioneered by Italian designers. Bontempi Casa and Edra embrace curves as the latest chair and sofa design.

The Marenco Outdoor is a revised version of the original Mario Marenco design by Arflex. It’s available in an armchair and a two-seater, three seater, or pouffe. This is Arflex’s 50th anniversary of the original Marenco model hitting the furniture design market. It would look stunning in living rooms.

15. OCEAN HUES

Aqua is expected to be one of the hottest colours of the season since it echoes the calming hue of the water.

If you want a calming blast of blue-green brilliance, go for larger furniture pieces covered in oceanic tones, or focus on smaller accessory items. Glass masters Lalique have released a new collection of mantlepiece-worthy vases in this beautiful colour that are ideal for adorning a mantlepiece, a chic small side table, or a cabinet of curiosities.

The Yucca wallpaper pattern by Sanderson offers a stunning stripe pattern for walls and is named after the spiky perennial plant. We are sold on the sky/green hue, but it also comes in botanical green, grey/silver, and charcoal/gold. It is offered in four seductive colorways.

The wallpapers sparkle in the light and provide vibrant colour for walls thanks to specific surface inks.

16. NIGHT SKY MINERALS

A beautiful new material trend that is replete with galaxy-inspired finishes is on the horizon. Vanity units like the one above and high-end table tops are both dark blue with white and pale blue striations. Marazzi’s stunning vanity unit in the colour “Sodalite Blu” is an engineering marvel that challenges anyone to stay in bed in the morning. The “Collection Grande Marble” by the ceramic company mimics the intricate characteristics and veinings of marble using 6mm porcelain, giving the impression of heavy slabs while maintaining efficient lightweight capabilities.

The Ilda side table from Poliform is the epitome of the rustic-luxe style that everyone is adoring since it pairs a deep blue Lapislazzuli marble top with an artfully formed bronzed brass base.

Although it is advertised as a coffee table, don’t you think its jewel-toned navy colour makes for the ideal nightcap in bed?

17. CONTEMPORARY TROMPE L’OEIL

Trompe l’oeil, which literally means “deceive the eye,” is an artistic method or conceit that has been a part of the visual arts landscape for centuries. It serves as both a show of an artist’s talent and a source of delight for the observer. It brings some unexpected humour into the house, creates a discussion topic for visitors and you alike, and fits in well with contemporary living room trends.

The New Perspective Mirror by Bonaldo, shown above, plays with depth and perspective to create the illusion of a room beyond the mirror and to provide room for the viewer’s imagination. Its decorative lines are created by hand right on the reflective surface, naively mimicking a different world from the one being reflected.

18. ARCHES

We knew that arch tiles were coming soon when we created the Arch tile collection earlier this year for Bert and May. It seems that we were correct. The arched doors are big news in extensions, renovations, and the gentle curves soften the hardened edges that had proliferated for so many years.

Livingetc editor Pip rich says arches are a throwback to Roman times. Livingetc tiles Bert and May will be used in my bathroom renovation in 2022. They add elegance while being friendly. It’s hard not to relax in spaces with curved edges.

If you are decorating, use it as a motif or shape for windows and doors.

19. COLORED CONCRETE

Bathroom trends are all about expressing personality and maintaining a monastic, spa-like sense of serenity. This is where concrete comes in. Concrete is the ideal material for this space because of its vivid colours and the depth and texture it offers.

Colored concrete has been in fashion for a while. It is being used in kitchens, exterior extensions, and floors. It is strong, according to Ben Allen, an architect. He says that the pigment runs through the entire thing, so if it chips, it doesn’t show up.

20. CORK FLOORING

Cork flooring is back and better than ever, so forget about the associations with orange cork tiles from the 1970s. It’s actually one of the major flooring trends for 2022, available in a range of colours, due to its eco credentials and simplicity of procuring it sustainably.

Natural thermal qualities of cork make it excellent for heat insulation and a far more affordable option than underfloor heating. This implies that, regardless of how it is made, environmental points continue to be accumulated. Silvi Stoyanova, a consultant for the flooring manufacturer Bricoflor, explains that it will result in lower energy use and utility costs.

21. PORTABLE TABLE LAMPS

Let’s face it, the shelf at the electronics store marked “USB lamp” has never had much attraction. Fortunately, preferences and technology have advanced past the occasionally gimmicky, often always uninspired rechargeable lighting solutions into an exciting world of chic, must-have new portable lamp designs by our favourite brands on the market, revitalising lighting trends for 2022.

Cordless lamps have become more and more popular because cables are no longer a bothersome anchor, according to Pooky founder Rohan Black. “With our new collection, dressed as part of a dining table set or moved out to your patio as the evenings draw in, you may perch on a kitchen shelf as a piece to admire, placed in the bathroom to give a melancholy members club atmosphere, or designed as part of a living room arrangement.Living portable lighting offer the necessary all-around adaptability.

Italian designer furniture band A rechargeable table lamp has been added to Ethimo’s already extensive line of tactile Gaia lighting, as shown below. Teak bases and vibrant linen shades provide an unexpectedly earthy counterpoint to the portable lamps’ sophisticated technology.

22. RED EARTH CERAMICS

Red clay, with its innate warmth, adds an unexpected twist to the more frequently encountered white pottery. Red or “brown” ceramics are frequently linked with rougher pottery, but this new wave of earthy vases and pieces has a refinement and a thoroughly modern artistic edge that makes them avant-garde. Keep an eye out for homemade items with appealing handcrafted raw honesty, unglazed finishes, and subtle curved forms that are perfect to fit into your living room ideas.

23. WAVY WOOD

A minor yet intriguing interior design trend for 2022 is the modern interpretation of the most basic of materials—kinked and curved. It’s a fresh trend. It’s time to abandon options for hardwood furniture with straight edges in favour of those with curvier shapes. “The 1970s impact we’ve seen on recent fashion runways has obviously translated into the interior world, and we are quite inclined to see curves and colours coming back into our homes imminently,” says Max Depret, director of homeware at Mauvais Garcon. Look for these supplementary pieces, such as trinket trays, vases, pillowcases, or our wavy mirror, to add a little something extra to your home.

24. GLAZED EXTERIOR TILES

Glazed exterior tiles offer a striking cladding option for contemporary house extension ideas by injecting a vibrant burst of colour that contrasts with conventional brickwork. This fashionable finish also offers a number of useful advantages, such as durability, low maintenance requirements, and a service life of more than 150 years.

According to Melissa Beasley, director at Beasley Dickson Architects, “Glazed exteriors are unexpected and joyous, defying the traditions of London house refurbishments.” They meet the demand for ornamental facades and offer the chance for a distinctive, hand-crafted, and personalised exterior.

25. COCOONING FURNITURE

Regarding home décor trends, cool cocooning has been gaining momentum and is expected to rise quickly in 2022. Curvy shapes, cuddly materials, and soft sofa trends are in right now.

Customers’ preferences have changed for a while; they are now seeking out more “homey” comfort chairs with thick cushions and rounded edges—a place where they can lay down as well as sit—says James Mair, founder of Viaduct.

A significant motif is comfort, cocooning, and creating one’s own environment, whether it be the Italians’ La Dolce Vita or the Danes’ hygge.

26. MEDITERRANEAN GOOD VIBES

For many years, the Italian fashion business Dolce & Gabbana has been dictating trends. Gothic lace, cherry patterns, and now a funky blue and white colour scheme.

The Blu Mediterraneo line by Dolce & Gabbana conjures up images of carefree summer vacations with its simple yet timeless colour palette. Now that there are pieces that make a statement while yet being effortlessly chic, you may enjoy it all year round. Pick one of the exquisitely created items from the collection, such as the Giacinto armchair with its dark-stained oak legs and chrome feet, the chic Atena coffee table, or the metal-structured Era lamp set. you could just take them all.

WHAT DECORATING TREND WILL PREVAIL IN 2023?

One major decorating style is expected to be quite popular in 2023:

Spa-style or so luxuriously lavish that you can’t help but feel at ease.

The interior designer Noa Santos claims, “The spaces I create have the sensibility of a spa.” Natural materials, particularly those with light neutral tones like creams and beiges, like marble and stone, “blend together to feel almost monastic.”

Use marble, concrete, and Taj Mahal quartzite to create this effect. Noa comments, “It means you don’t have to always be regulating the usage of coasters and still looks great after plenty of wear.” Additionally, I enjoy silver travertine, and we frequently use limewash. It has the same delicacy and nuance as Venetian plaster, but if Venetian plaster fractures, the entire structure must be replaced. using limewash

From a design perspective, this is really refreshing because things can be quickly touched up. Like Tadelakt in a damp environment. Imagine how much time you’d save by not having to scrub the grout! In terms of colour, we frequently use neutral hues like white and beige since they feel more durable than jewel tones. Despite the fact that I adore Guatemala Verde green marble and blue stone. This is very dramatic.

WHAT COLOUR WILL BE USED IN 2023?

Paprika is expected to be the most interesting interior design trend of 2023, according to recent news reports. Brands like Gallotti&Radice, Ethimo, and Flexform recently debuted paprika-colored designs; it’s a spicier variation on terracotta that creates a cosy, welcoming atmosphere in interior spaces.

‘Paprika complements red-based foods effectively.

According to Pip Rich, editor of Livingetc, “brown and honeyed tones, both of which are interior design trends in their own right.” They express a desire to make spaces feel like they are hugging you. My recommendation is to utilise paprika as furniture and paint the walls a reddish brown with honeyed amber ceilings. Although it’s a risky aesthetic, it will feel opulent.
